  • Both teams have scored in three of Hull City’s last five away league contests.
  • Hull City are unbeaten in their last five away league matches, winning three and drawing two.

Tigers can trouble hit-and-miss Blues

Hull City have the goal power to notch against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s on Friday, but their defensive failings should ensure both teams get on the scoresheet.

Liam Rosenior’s side play a style of football that looks good when they are on the front foot, but challenges defenders who are not always comfortable on the ball to play out from dangerous areas. This can, and has, led to them coming unstuck in certain situations – particularly against teams that like to press.

These two sides have similar form and both appear to be drawing too many games at the moment. Hull’s five-game unbeaten run on the road coming into this makes the even money about a home win look far too short.

Estupinan boost confidence in BTTS bet

Both teams to score is the better play here because the Tigers have been involved in some see-saw clashes of late. Seven of their last ten Championship contests have seen goals scored at both ends, including three of their last five away from home.

Although the other two away games in that sequence finished 0-0, Tigers keeper Matt Ingram played a blinder in one at Vicarage Road where Hull had chances to score against Watford – and probably would have done had leading scorer Oscar Estipnan been available.

The Colombian bagged his eighth of the season in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Blackpool and his presence in their line-up should boost confidence in the BTTS bet. A 1-1 correct score play is preferred because the Tigers’ last two games have finished that way and four of Birmingham’s last eight home games have finished all square.
