No Seagulls slip ups for Gunners

Arsenal returned to action with a 3-1 win over London rivals West Ham and will bid to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League when they travel to Brighton in the late kick off on Saturday.

Albion managed a 3-1 win of their own in their first game after the World Cup, at Southampton, but they will struggle to get anything out of this game against the in-form Gunners.

This kind of game would have been a potential banana skin for Arsenal in previous years but this season feels a little different, and they can come away from the Amex with maximum points.

Defensive lapses costing Brighton

The Seagulls have made a decent start to life under Roberto Di Zerbi but they have perhaps been less solid at the back and have conceded in each of their last six games.

That may prove the difference against this slick Arsenal outfit, who have been strong defensively with three clean sheets in their last four.

Brighton did beat the Gunners 3-1 when these sides last met in the EFL Cup back in November. However, boss Mikel Arteta rotated his side for that game and at full strength the visitors can settle the score.

Albion have been fairly good at home but recently results have dipped and they have just one win in their last four at the Amex, losing twice. Arsenal have the best away record in the league with 19 points from eight games and they can claim a seventh away victory on New Year’s Eve.

Another shut-out for Gunners?

Arsenal conceded from the spot against the Hammers in their Boxing Day game but after falling behind early on they rescinded well and claimed a 3-1 win.

That goal ended a run of three consecutive Premier League clean sheets and they have avoided conceding in seven of their last 11 games across all competitions. As such, a 2-0 win for the visitors appeals in the correct score market as Arsenal score on average 2.4 goals-per-game and have conceded just 12 in total in 15 games.

England international Bukayo Saka is the goalscorer selection as he has four goals in his last five games for club and country, and was on target in the win over West Ham.
