Regular service resumes for Hibernian
Although Hibernian done well to end a four-game losing run with an amazing 4-0 win over Livingston ahead of Christmas, the visit of runaway league leaders Celtic poses a much greater threat and they could well slip to another defeat.
Such a result provides little value given Celtic’s domineering 11-game run of league victories, so we must look for value elsewhere. For all of their dominance, 0nly three sides had seen both teams score more often than Celtic’s ten in league action ahead of the round, so they are certainly not impenetrable.
Recent history suggests Lee Johnson’s Hibbees could sneak a goal past Celtic, they’ve scored seven times in seven home H2H encounters since September 2019, although don’t bank on them winning as the Bhoys avoided defeat every single time (W3, D4).
Going for goals
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglu probably won’t be too worried about the threat of Hibernian given his near-perfect managerial record against them (W4, D1), although he would do well not to underestimate them with four draws across the last seven visits to Easter Road.
