Real Betis vs Barcelona predictions for the first leg of their Spanish Super Cup semi-final. Will either team come out on top in the desert? Read on for our free match preview and betting tips
- Barcelona have won six of the last seven meetings between the two teams
- Real Betis’s last seven matches against La Liga opposition have yielded just two victories
- Barcelona are on a run of seven wins from ten outings
Betis look up against it
Real Betis are generally tough to beat under Manuel Pellegrini, but the match-up with Barcelona is not a good one for them, given they have lost six of the last seven meetings between the two teams.
The Green and Whites, who look set to be without Alex Moreno ahead of his prospective transfer to Aston Villa, still sit in fourth place in La Liga, but have won just two of their last seven league games.
And, on their return to the Super Cup for the first time since 2005, they might not fancy their chances on neutral territory, having won just four of their last nine fixtures away from Benito Villamarín.
Barca on fire
Barcelona showed their resilience once more on Sunday night as they squeezed past Atletico Madrid courtesy of a 1-0 victory.
That was a seventh win in ten outings for Xavi’s side, who had drawn their other two matches since the World Cup.
There are a couple of defensive frailties there, conceding in five of their last eight games, but they equally have netted in 12 of their last 13, so should have the capabilities of putting this game to bed.
I predict that Barcelona will win this game with both teams scoring, selecting 2-1 to Xavi’s side as a correct score prediction.
